Why Bold City?

We edited the book

Our fellowship director co-edited the national textbook on ultrasound program management and directs ACEP's Emergency Ultrasound Management Course and AEMUS Board Review courses.

We built vascular access here

Our EMT/ Paramedic led ultrasound-guided IV program grew into the hospital-wide Vascular Access Specialty Team (VAST) placing USGIVs, midlines, and bedside PICCs across the hospital.

Fully integrated workflow

Barcode scanners at the bedside, wireless image transfer from machines, Q-Path POCUS manager worksheet integration into the Epic EMR, encounter based ordering for billing, images visible in the Visage PACS for consultant viewing and cloud based QA.

Resuscitative TEE in the ED

A dedicated TEE director, the HeartWorks TTE/TEE simulator, and a real credentialing pathway: fellows are hospital-credentialed in TEE within their first 6 months, then help teach residents and faculty.

Level I trauma volume

The region's safety-net academic center: high acuity, diverse pathology, and the scan variety fellows want.

A fleet with personality

Scan with Baymax, R2D2, Wall-E, Bender, T1000, and Optimus Prime — 14 machines across 6 sites.
