ACEP Emergency Ultrasound Management Course

Assistant Course Director 2016–2019 and 2022–present, with a stint as Executive Director 2019–2021. Our faculty are also Sound Advice presenters.

ACEP AEMUS-FPD Board Review Course

Assistant Director 2025–present; lecturer since the inaugural 2022 courses; co-author of the published course-design paper.

SEMPA Ultrasound Courses

Course Director of the SEMPA 360 ultrasound workshops 2019–2024 and of the Jacksonville SEMPA Ultrasound Course, 2020 & 2024 — taught by six of our faculty.

Clinical Decision Making in EM, Ponte Vedra

Teaching the ultrasound workshop since 2008 — directing it since 2023 — with faculty and fellow presenters every year.

Critical Points in Emergency Critical Care

innovation

Program innovation: from one ED course to VAST

We don't just teach ultrasound — we use it to change how the hospital works.

  1. 2012

    Pilot USGPIV course taught to ED EMTs and paramedics. 15 ED technicians voluntarily enrolled into this additional training.

  2. 2014

    USGPIV coaching model leads to 97% success rate on first attempt, reducing non-essential CVCs by >60%. USGPIV training becomes mandatory for all ED EMTs.

  3. 2015

    Hospital-wide ED Tech–led USGIV Team launched, with expansion to include midline catheter insertion.

  4. 2016

    Midline team demonstrates 31% improvement in volume of CLABSIs.

  5. 2025

    Expansion of the Midline Team to the Vascular Access Specialty Team (VAST): providing USGIVs, midlines, and bedside-placed PICC lines using the Sherlock system throughout the hospital 24/7. UF-North VAST expansion: Fall 2026.
