2012
Pilot USGPIV course taught to ED EMTs and paramedics. 15 ED technicians voluntarily enrolled into this additional training.
2014
USGPIV coaching model leads to 97% success rate on first attempt, reducing non-essential CVCs by >60%. USGPIV training becomes mandatory for all ED EMTs.
2015
Hospital-wide ED Tech–led USGIV Team launched, with expansion to include midline catheter insertion.
2016
Midline team demonstrates 31% improvement in volume of CLABSIs.
2025
Expansion of the Midline Team to the Vascular Access Specialty Team (VAST): providing USGIVs, midlines, and bedside-placed PICC lines using the Sherlock system throughout the hospital 24/7. UF-North VAST expansion: Fall 2026.
