a year in the life

Protected 4-hour conference: fellow education, QA image review, research updates, and an administrative meeting.
Dedicated faculty scan rounds to develop image acquisition, clinical integration, procedures, and advanced pathology.
Administrative Fellow ↔ Educational Fellow on a monthly basis. Own QA, billing, committees, social media, and the image library.
Learn what it takes to run an ultrasound program from the inside: departmental ultrasound operations meetings, machine cleaning and maintenance, new-equipment demos, credentialing, and the day-to-day processes that keep a multi-site division running.
IRB-submitted project with a structured timeline, plus a first-author national abstract before you graduate.
Residency lectures, medical student simulation, SonoGames coaching, weekly pearls, and monthly USGIV nursing sessions.
Start reviewing images side-by-side with faculty, then earn progressive independence. By graduation, you QA studies on your own — ready to run your own program's QA from day one.
Monthly sessions with a regional ultrasound teaching collaborative of 9 fellowship programs — 13 fellows, 25 faculty educators, a speaking coach, and a shared lecture series. Your network extends far beyond our faculty before you graduate.

resuscitative TEE
We perform resuscitative TEE in the ED — and fellows don't just observe it. Within the first 6 months you'll attend a TEE conference, complete simulator training on our HeartWorks TTE/TEE platform, and become TEE-credentialed at UF Health Jacksonville. For the rest of the year, you help train our residents and faculty.
